Every story has to have its evil witch, right? Well, just consider Ursela your wicked witch of the westside. She often talks down to the children, calling thems slobs. She even once told Janie she wished the girl was dead, but of course, their father didnt believe it when she told them.

At first, Ursela is thrilled that the kids are missing. But, when Bob, their father, puts out a million dollar reward for finding them, Ursela sets up a scheme to get the money.

She's the most heinous woman to ever live, and I based her off of a woman I know named Diane.

Blood

Blood

Blood, birthname Cobie Alexander, is seventeen girl who discovers at the age of eleven that her being alive is the only thing keeping vampires from roaming the streets any time they please. Her mother was once Blood, but it was passed to her in birth. She fears having children, because she knows she will just pass the curse onto someone else, but Emily, Dal, and Janie convince her that it is the lesser evil.

Janie and Blood meet at a movie theatre where Janie sees two vampires going after Blood. She puts her witch like powers to work, not to mention her physical abilities, and she kills the vampires with a makeshift stake. Blood eventually begins living with Janie, Dal, Emily and Kyle.

Jake

Jake

Jake is the vampire king, or so he wishes. Jake wants more than anything to be the ruler of the undead. But, first, he must spill the blood of Blood, a young girl whose blood is like kryptonite to vampires. Once she's dead, all vampires are set free, even in daylight, to feast among humans as they please.

Ice

Ice

Ice is the first actual witch Janie meets. She and peter accidently get lost in a forest, and Ice surprises them, telling them of her mystical powers. Of course, at first Janie just thinks she's full of it, and she and Peter run away. But another, more personal encounter shows Janie just how real Ice is.

Ice is a young looking witch. She's just about as old looking as Emily and Dal. But, she tells Janie and Peter that she's existed for a long time. That she'd seen things that she too terrified to even picture. Janie wants to see these things, and begs Ice to take her to the past for a brief period, which ends in trouble.

Peter

Peter

Peter is a thirteen year old vampire that Janie meets while practicing witchcraft. He teaches her a few things about vampires and a few about witchcraft. Eventually, Peter and Janie form a relationship, which Derrick becomes jealous of, and tries to "take care of the problem".

Peter is all around smart, but for a vampire, Janie says he's rather "wussy-ish". She teaches him how to fight while he teaches her witchcraft, and later in the story, what they learn from each other saves their lives.

Joshua

Joshua

Joshua is Emily's future boyfriend. He's smart, kind, and funny. He's a massage therapist, and cant be a bit spacey at times. But Emily, being the sweetie she is, thinks it's endeering.

Though Dal usually tells Emily's boyfriends to hit the road, he grows to like Josh. They bond, and eventually become pals.

Derrick and Xander

Derrick and Xander

Derrick and Xander are Janie's fifteen year old, vampire and witchcraft loving best friends.

Derrick - Derrick is the tougher of the two. Of course, he knows better than to mess with Janie, but he's often a flip flopper and if he had to choose between protecting a friend and saving his own butt, he'd choose the second for sure.

Xander - Xander is a bit softer. He watches out for Janie, even though they both know she doesnt need it, and occasionally watches out for Kyle. He might not take a bullet for his friends, but he'd definitely jump in front of a flying pillow for the protection of someone else.

Janie

Janie

Janie is an aspiring 13 year old girl. She's smart, and daring. She's never been one to follow the rules or listen to her authority figures. That's why Dalen poses a challenge for her. Janie's usually able to scare away adults and authority figures with her hard-shelled disposition. But, Dal has seen that before, and he knows how to handle it. He sees a bit of his childhood self in her rebellious ways, and teaches her a few things that helped get him by middle school.

Janie doesnt get along with most kids her age. She has a bit of a strange sense of humor. For one, she finds it funny to pretend she's dead in her bed, and scare her little brother, Kyle, to tears. She thinks that anything having to do with vampires and dark magick is cool, which is why she is thrilled to live with Dalen and Emily.

Janie might be rebellious against authority, but when it comes to being the boss of her brother, she becomes drunk with power, often ordering him to do odd things like lick the ground and sing showtunes with the word 'butt' in them.

True, Janie isnt the ideal older sister, but when someone even looks at her little brother the wrong way, she pounces like an angry tigress. She's ready to fight anyone that picks on Kyle, even if they're bigger and much stronger than her.

Janie is a strong willed, but smart and generous girl when she wants to be. She is based off of my friend Kayla, and a bit off of my friend Labrea.

Kyle

Kyle

What can I say about Kyle? He's a sweet, cute, innocent little seven year old boy with an adorable mess of blonde hair. He looks up to Janie, and later looks up to Dal. He begins to treat Emily like his own mother, and for a period even calls her "Mommy".

After moving in with Emily and Dal, Kyle begins coloring pictures of his new "family". Towards the end of the story, he draws a picture of his "perfect family" which I will display when that time in the story arrives.

Kyle, as sweet as he may be, is a bit of a baby when it comes to fending for himself. Dal teaches Kyle to "man up" by having Kyle ask a girl he likes out. This girl happens to be a freshman in high school, but that doesnt discourage the boy.

Kyle is quite possibly the cutest boy I could imagine, and is based off my little brother Brian.

Dalen

Dalen

Dalen is stubborn and bossy, but he cares more about his sister than anything else in the world. He is usually telling Emily what to do to protect her, and soon he begins protecting Kyle and Janie the same way. He always tells Emily not to get her hopes up about things. She thinks it's because he doesnt care about anything she does, but secretly Dalen is just trying to protect her feelings.

Dalen often has a short temper, but he never yells at Emily, except once in the story in the later chapters.

Dal always comments on everything Emily does, including her clothes, her hair, and her choices of boyfriends and dates. He has never liked a person Emily has dated, except for Joshua, who is introduced later in the story.

Dal is a bit extreme, but he's a caring person overall. His character is based off of numerous male friends of mine and a little bit off of my father.

Emily

Emily

Emily is a sweet, smart, caring girl. When she finds Janie and Kyle, she is thrilled to finally have children. She treats them as if she gave birth to them, tucking them in at night and singing to them.

Although her picture doesnt show it, Emily is usually smiling. She says once that she has never had an unhappy day, except the day she and her brother were turned. But, she then says that is must've been fate, which Dalen scoffs at.

If she could have one wish, it would be to be a human girl who could fall in love and have lots of children, children a lot like Janie and Kyle, who she loves within two weeks of knowing.

Emily is the nicest character in "The Perfect Family" and is based off of my dear friend, Shannon Gian.
